Hello – I have to tell you that I love your articles and am glad to be on your emailing list. I do have a problem. I am elderly (74) and in declining health.
Â
I have a blue/gold macaw (Sugar), a double yellow-headed Amazon (Giovanni), and a Nanday Conure (Beatle). Each is 15 years old and was bred and raised by me.
No one in my loving family is fond of birds so I would appreciate your help in finding a bird adoption agency or home for when the time comes. I live in SW Indiana. I would be so appreciative of your help. Thank you – Nancy S.
Dear Nancy
Â
Thank you for the kind remarks. We do try to offer as much useful information as possible.
Â
Regarding your birds, I am sorry you are not well. It is a good idea to make plans for your birds, just in case.
Â
I would recommend contacting a local Bird Club over a Bird Rescue at this time. The Rescues are wonderful, but they are quite full and who knows if they can take them now or later.
Â
Â
The clubs tend to have a larger membership and can also help you in your situation.
Â
I recommend contacting this bird club, I used to attend their events years ago when I traveled.
Â
Also try the Central Indiana Cage Bird Club
Â
They should be able to help or steer you in the right direction.
Â
I wish you and your flock the best.
Â
Thank you
Catherine
