I just got off the phone with Andrea, a very good customer of ours.

Andrea was fortunate enough to get a lung transplant at the age of 70.

I’m sure her primary surgeon told her many things that stand out to me are, “We’ve probably added about six years to your life” and “You have to get rid of your macaw.”

When a doctor starts predicting future outcomes like recovery times and life expectancies, I’ll follow with a question like “While you’re at it can you pick a couple of stocks for me”?

The words coming from a doctor’s mouth, are not necessarily 100% accurate.

 

I understand the law of averages but we’re humans, all unique so predicting things like life expectancy and recovery times is not a precise science.

 

Speaking of science, the prescription to remove a pet bird from the home is based on what data?

 

Has the air quality in her home been benchmarked while the bird still resides in there, but now at a daughter’s?

 

Let’s start with

 

Particle pollution — also called particulate matter (PM)  is made up of particles (tiny pieces) of solids or liquids that are in the air.

 

These particles may include. Has anyone measured Particulate Matter 2.5 (PM2.5)?

 

Of course not, which motivated me to write a blog post entitled “Why doctors should be prescribing birds.“

 

The insanity of this is that you can actually control the interior air quality of your home for not a lot of money.

We talked about a lot of pet bird care issues.

 

She had lost an Amazon parrot and wanted to know about life expectancies for Amazons.

 

That bird can live another 20 years easily.

 

We also talk about one of my favorite subjects, lighting!

 

She wanted to get lighting over her cage and was attempting to do it with a reading lamp as you can see from this image.
