Tracy asks,
Hi,
I have two American parakeets and two Bourkes parakeets, both male and female, non-breeding pairs. I want to optimize their health without encouraging breeding.
The ‘regular’ keets are more active than the Bourkes. There are several parakeet blends including some Australian blends, can you recommend one that would be good for both species?
Thanks, Tracy
Dear Tracy
We have had very good luck with the following food for both Bourkes parakeets and budgies.
Goldenfeast Australian Blend. It is a very robust and unique blend of almost 40 different ingredients.
It can be used alone or mixed with a basic Parakeet mix like Higgins Vita Parakeet or Volkman Super Parakeet.
Beyond that, we have a favorite mix that contains seeds, dried veggies and fruits and small Tropican pellets.
Another good blend for both the budgies and the Bourkes is a new mix by Higgins that has seeds, fruits, veggies, small Intune pellets and treat in one bag.
