Do Pet Birds Cause Brain Paralysis?
I want to buy a budgie, but my mom says that they are birds that can cause “brain paralysis”.
We live in Canada, so I’m pretty sure they’re careful about things like that.
Anyhow, could it be true?

I received 2 parakeets as a present and everything for them.
I found out one is male and the other is female.
How would I know if the female is pregnant?
I just got off the phone with Andrea, a very good customer of ours.
Andrea was fortunate enough to get a lung transplant at the age of 70.
I’m sure her primary surgeon told her many things that stand out to me are, “We’ve probably added about six years to your life” and “You have to get rid of your macaw.”
Hello,
I’ve been buying budgie supplies from you guys for over 2 years now and really enjoy your stuff.
I know that you guys have budgies and are extremely experienced with birds.
I am having some trouble with my budgies are you able to offer advice?
Karen P. asks,
I have a 28-year-old blue and gold macaw.
We have had her for 18 years.
She has been bare-chested most of her life.
Her big perch is in the family room, which is quite large with a cathedral ceiling.
It is hard to keep her warm.
Hi, my vet suggested differently sized rope perches for Yago, my 45 yr. old (double yellow-headed) Amazon.
His main perch (rope) is the one on top.
It is a bit long so it droops a bit.
I think it is about 1/2 inch in diameter.
I measured the diameter of the cage at 20″. Pretty sure that should be the size for his main one.
Editor’s note: full transparency, I don’t think we’ve ever covered the subject of pet birds and hearing.
Once again a loyal reader comes through with a potentially serious issue that until now we have left opaque.
Many of us take for granted that our birds can hear but exactly how good is their hearing, how has it evolved and how do they use it?

Re: Ringnecks, Keto, and all that.
Dear Mitch,
I hope that all is well with you, yours and Keto.
I’ve watched the videos and showed them to others a few times now.
I think that I might have found a good breeder who handles the babies so they’re not terrified in their new home.

Dear Mitch, I was glad that you put that sick animal abuser in his or her place when you responded to the “Duct taped Cockatoo” post.
I once rescued a poor blue and gold that was up in a tree for three days.
Its owner was absent and I believe that she was mentally ill, but that’s no excuse for the perch that I found on the apartment property that had lots of duct tape where the parrot perched and the amount of neglect that I saw that the poor Macaw had been through.
LL (G2MomPerson) asks
Is there a smaller micro-chip available for smaller birds like a Goffins Cockatoo or Cocktail?
I asked my avian vet & she wasn’t aware of a smaller chip for smaller birds/animals.
If there is a smaller chip, what is it called & who makes it?
