What is the difference between nuts & seeds for Parrots and Humans?
If I buy a bag of nuts for myself in the grocery store, can I not feed it to my macaw?
Steven
Hi Steve
Thanx for the email
Short answer – nothing
That said – chances are if you looked at the quality of pet nuts vs. human, human grade would look better, less flaws, prettier if you will.
Chances are your Macaw parrot will like your personal selection of snacking nuts more than you will like what is available as a bird snack or bird food.
Lastly many of the nuts we human like to snack on are salted which is not encouraged for bird diets.
I have seen people suck the salt off a peanut for their bird which does remove the salt but adds bacteria which is not good for your bird.
