But feathers don’t last forever. Over time, they wear out, break, or fade, so birds need to replace them regularly. This process is called molt.
Molting. It’s that magical time of year when your bird transforms from a fluffy, fabulous creature into a feathery mess. It’s like their version of a bad hair day, but it lasts for weeks.
What is a feather?
It’s a product of the protein known as Keratin and comes in three flavors: contour, sensory, and down feathers.
