Yes I have another question for you, my green-cheek conure seems to be molting all the time and he’s lost the two big red feathers in the tail and I can feel the feathers under his skin in between his back and wing feathers is this normal or is he short on calcium he will not touch a cuttlebone or any calcium bone to rub down his nails or beak so I have two perches, that are rough, he is a year and a half old, already really molted.Â

Hello, I’m Laurie Cannon, who wrote to you about the possibility of adopting an older Green-Winged Macaw.Â
We didn’t do that, however, we did contact a breeder about a Panama Amazon baby.Â
She seemed almost horrified when she found out both my husband and I are totally blind.Â
You asked whether our birds are flighted.Â
All three of our birds – African Grey, Dusky Pionus, Cockatiel – are fully flighted.Â
We have a lot of large windows in our apartment but so far we have not had a problem.Â
They all have their favorite routes and pretty much stick to them.Â
The only time we have clipped our bird’s wings is when we were traveling internationally and they had to go through the health and customs inspections at the airports.

In my limited experience with biting birds, I can share what happened to work for me.
We have a bonded male and female S. I. (Solomon Island) Eclectus both birds got along well with us and others.Â
The female, Mia, would let me hold her, she would sit with me, she would step up when I presented my hand.Â
But if she perched too long on my hand or if I got up from sitting on the couch with her she would go after me and bite!Â

My husband and I rescued a 3-month-old medium Sulphur-Crested Cockatoo (aka Eleonora cockatoo) from a horrible pet store situation last August.
We finished his hand-feeding which took another month.
He was very skinny and underfed so we have spoiled him rotten.
Hello, knowing of your holistic approach to things here is a synopsis of our bird and situation. We have an 11 1/2 yr old Goffins Cockatoo, Taedo ( we have had him since 2008 when he was 3 mths). We did have him sexed and know he is a male.

Due to my carelessness and haste a month ago, I scooped Hannah up as she was running down the hallway and dropped her by accident.
I saw the look on her face and her holding her leg and knew immediately she was injured.

We were evacuated in a raft, with our Eclectus Parrot.
Since we have returned home, she is acting stressed and exhibiting behaviors that I have not witnessed before this.

I recently had the experience of seeing my beloved Green Cheek Conure do what I would describe as projectile vomiting, which absolutely scared me to nearly to death.
I have owned birds for about 30 years or so and had never seen anything like this.
Actually, I was not even aware that birds could vomit at all, except for regurgitating to feed their young.
This looked like someone had turned on the faucet for a couple of seconds.
