Windy City Parrot was started in 1993 by Catherine Tobsing. Until New Year’s Eve 2001, Windy City Parrot’s revenue was from bird shows. Bird shows are where vendors congregate in venues from a school gymnasium to shopping malls and they sell their bird related items to the public.

Because we wear less clothing in the summer months, short sleeves, tank tops and shorts we might be feeling our birds nails little more on our skin. This is a sure sign that it’s time to trim your birds nails.
The thought of this makes a lot of people hyperventilate because they’re usually faced with three choices.
Find someone to do it professionally. Take your bird to the vet which may incur a large bill for blood workup or a wellness check, or three, doing it yourself.
Customers return products for many reasons: a customer may change his or her mind, not like the product, or have difficulty operating it. Whether it is returned a month later or only the very next day, such an item must be identified as refurbished or reconditioned to be resold. (more…)
One of the things that makes the bird supply business unique is that it’s a much smaller segment of the pet supply business. The bird supply category represents about 3.5% of American households versus about 50% each for cats and dogs.
Catherine started her bird supply business in the early nineties selling primarily bird and parrot toy parts at bird shows. WindyCityParrot.com became on on line bird supply website in 2001 on the heels of 9/11 as bird show attendance began to ebb.

Much has been written about the bird cage. Almost every web site that tries to sell you a bird cage will offer information on how to purchase the right bird cage. Proper bird cage bar spacing, proper bird cage size – every bird cage website has an opinion.
At the end-of-the-day, much of the bird cage information you read boils down to just that, opinion. Am I starting to ruffle some feathers – good? The reality is, a reality we’ve built after selling a bird cage to thousands of pet bird owners.

Q – Its been 10 years since I purchased a new cage, and am trying to get something similar to what I have so the transition for Zack will be an easy one. His playtop has the half moon type ladders with crocks for feeding. Which brand that you use and carry do you suggest?
We use PayPal to process debit and credit cards as well as direct PayPal transactions.
The single most important benefit to both you the customer and us the vendor is that Windy City Parrot does not hold onto any of your credit card information.
First, please understand the bird doesn’t know the difference in the tops parrot cages. Birds like to be up high and will go to the top of the cage regardless.
Playtops are really more of a convenience for you than the bird. Dometop , Victorian (or Napoleon) top cages fall under the category of dome top bird cages but may offer doors that open on the top of the cage providing birds with an exit other than the main front door.
