The Skinny on Micro Chipping Pet Birds
There are many good reasons for micro-chipping birds and parrots. If the bird is lost or stolen they can easily be identified and returned or identified as a stolen bird. The theft of birds is increasing. A lot of birds escape because of the owner’s mistaken belief that clipping a bird’s wings prevents flight. Micro-Chipping costs range anywhere from $40 – $150 for the microchip and that doesn’t include the expense that you may incur if there’s a medical complication from the microchip process. Some Micro-Chipping Registries also charge an annual fee.
Tropimix Egg Food by Hagen
Dear Kristen,
Mitch at Windy City Parrots asked me to send you some bird food samples for your parakeets.
Bird Cage Perches Needed
Dear Sharon
Yes, we are open to hearing about your perches and pricing. I am not sure what you mean by a “merchant application” we don’t have one of those.
Just send us an email or a fax with your prices, details and we can go from there. Most perch makers are home-based businesses, so you are not any different from them. I do like to buy from the manufacturers rather than a distributor as it keeps costs down.
Thank you for the contact for the stainless steel washers, I have not been very proactive in hunting them down even though I know they exist. And I knew there was a local company, so that is nice.
Food for Lineolated Parakeets
Dear Carolyn
We sell many brands of food for birds, but not one that is designated just for Linnies
Goldenfeast makes some very nice small bird foods.
Please Help Me Select a Bird Safe Travel Carrier
Hi Catherine. Oh goodness, no, I won’t confront that particular seller, I don’t want to cause any problems or hard feelings, just trying to find the best for the bird of my dreams. Ha, ha, that’s funny about the California cages!
I have a giant stainless steel cage in OK where we live. My husband has Celiac disease, his father has Lupus, and my daughter has Autism so I am hyperconscious about chemicals and allergens. Thank you so much for all the super useful information Catherine, I appreciate all your help! Take care
Aimee

Housing for a Lineolated Parakeet
Mitch,
Thanks so much for spending time with me on the phone. Very much appreciated.
As discussed, I will be getting a single Linnie. Most likely, it will stay at one. There is a small chance it could expand to two birds later … but not in the plans right now. I just mention that in case it influences your recommendation. Wouldn’t want to have to change cages later in this unlikely occurrence.
How You and Your Bird Benefit from Clicker Training
Clicker training is a great way to teach your bird positive behavior. Clicker training is especially useful with problem birds and parrots because it can help in making positive changes with your birds.
Clicker training helps make your bird do something willingly. Clicker training has been used on dogs many zoo animals. Dolphins use something similar to clicker training except they use whistles instead of clickers which are heard better underwater.
