Seeking Bird Cage for Handicap African Grey Parrot

Do you know of anyone who makes cages for disabled birds? I’m looking for something probably made of plexiglass for a Congo. He/she is about 7 weeks old. Has a bad right leg. He is standing on his left & seems like he will perch.

I’m going to be moving him into a plastic bucket that I can make perches for. If he learns to perch, I’ll be looking for a cage. It was an option to have the leg removed. I hate to have the leg removed if I don’t have to. It would get caught in any cage bars of the birdcages on the market. (more…)

Please Help Me Select a Bird Safe Travel Carrier

Hi Catherine. Oh goodness, no, I won’t confront that particular seller, I don’t want to cause any problems or hard feelings, just trying to find the best for the bird of my dreams. Ha, ha, that’s funny about the California cages!

I have a giant stainless steel cage in OK where we live. My husband has Celiac disease, his father has Lupus, and my daughter has Autism so I am hyperconscious about chemicals and allergens. Thank you so much for all the super useful information Catherine, I appreciate all your help! Take care

Button Quails aka Chinese Painted Quails are an oft-overlooked aviary bird. They are classified as Galliformes which simply states, they’re ground-eating birds (like chickens, turkeys, peacocks, and pheasants). Button quails can fly but most of their time is on the ground and they even enjoy taking dust baths. They use the sand for grit as well which helps with digestion.

The State bird of California is a California Quail, the button Quail is about half the size and does not have had plume. Button Quails come in white, silver, reddish-brown, and even speckled colors.

Thanks so much for spending time with me on the phone. Very much appreciated.

As discussed, I will be getting a single Linnie. Most likely, it will stay at one. There is a small chance it could expand to two birds later … but not in the plans right now. I just mention that in case it influences your recommendation. Wouldn’t want to have to change cages later in this unlikely occurrence.

I wanted to let you know that the full specturm bird cage light bulb that I just ordered from you will not fit the NuAge bird cage light fixture. The bulb has a broad area just above the screw-in part that makes it incompatible.

Since you sell NuAge cages, I thought you might like to add this information about the bulb so your next customer doesn’t waste money on a bulb that won’t fit!

Thank you for responding to my request for notification. However, the cage I currently have is the SAME cage purchased from the bird shop we bought our Moluccan 16 years ago. We made the purchase for him exactly one year ago, after a fire we had in our home.

The cage arrived about 5:30 yesterday evening via UPS. Our UPS guy has been delivering here for years so he brought it all the way into the house for me, which was great! He loves our dog so he even stayed a few minutes to play with her! LOL!

Differences Between Same Size Bird Cages From AE, HQ and Prevue?

Hi there,

I was referred to your website by some folks who have purchased from you in the past. It is generally known that HQ makes a very good cage. I have looked at some of the other cages you have to offer and wanted to know how they compare.

I have seen the Prevue Select cages but haven’t seen any reviews or information on the web as to the quality, ease of cleaning, etc.

I notice that the Prevue Select 3152 is more expensive than the HQ 80024 and wondered if it is a better cage overall.

The other line I am curious is AE, any suggestions?
