I clearly have been remiss by not keeping everybody up with the lives of our six budgies.
Ever since we adopted the last two, Biscuit and Gravy, the dynamics have certainly once again changed in the cage environment.
Putting things in perspective there are only two males, Jam and Eggs, the other four are females.
What size cage is the minimum size for one small budgie?
The experts have all sorts of rules on proper cage sizing.
“It needs to be this size and shape in height”.
“In needs to have levels on this and that”.
“The bar spacing MUST be…….”
So here’s my deal with the experts
Is it wrong to trim a baby budgies toe nails?
If it is wrong, then why is it wrong to trim a baby budgies toe nails?
This is my answer to a question on Quora.
Editor’s note: Another answer about trimming a budgie’s toenails had advised against clipping their toes to avoid bloodshed.
By using a Rotary trimmer you can avoid cutting any birds nails to the quick by having total control in conjunction along with knowing proper restraint for small birds.
Question about Male Parakeet.
Every time I put my arm in the cage he attacks it, or he flies at me when I look in the cage.
My female looks depressed like she would rather he move out.
She used to be so happy.
I got her first, then him a couple of months after.
She would sing, and play with her toys.
Original verbatim Quora question(s): How do I train a budgie to free flight and come back to me without having to fly away?
How do you train two budgies to free flight?
Can you train two budgies to free flight at the same time?

Hi, Love your website !
Thank you for that.
I’m hoping you can help me with training and integrating my birds.
I made the mistake of getting 4 budgies at the same time.
Doh !
Captivity is a relative term. I’m not relegated to my home but I still have to pay rent, go to work, pay taxes and perform all those duties that enable me to be a good neighbor and good citizen of the world.
If captivity is all that you know, is it really captivity? We have eight budgies, all rescues. We don’t have the background on any of them but we’ve kept them flighted, and recently started leaving the door open but most don’t ever leave the cage.
There is no singular cockatiel related to the title of this post. Aside from providing expert advice to caged bird keepers I also have a passion for Search Engine Optimization as well as improving how I communicate our ideas. Apparently, I am the vortex of a digitally feathered world.
(budgies weigh the same as 2 Reese’s peanut butter cups – btw)
