Dear Mitch and Catherine,
We are empty nesters owned by our only pets, a harligold and a greenwing macaw. After reading some of your articles on correcting parrot lighting issues, we are aware that their lighting setup needs some revamping.
Hi Mitch,
I have been searching for a “helmet” for a CAG (Congo African grey vs a TAG Timneh African grey) who has a photosensitivity issue in her eye from cataract surgery.
I want to find her a device she can were to make her eyesight more comfortable.
The parakeet in the helmet jumped out at me when I saw it. Do you know anyone who might be able to fabricate such headwear for Marie?

Yellow-Tailed Black Cockatoo ~ Above Original question on Quora: Do pet birds like parrots and cockatoos have shorter life spans when they live with humans rather than in the wild?…
Let’s start with parrots falling under a definite no.
Kea for one. The New Zealand Alpine parrot lives in the snowy mountains and is really smart but extremely destructive.

Lisa K. has a conundrum with taking her Amazon outside,
Hi Mitch
I have a 23-year-old Blue Crown Conure named Louie.
Monica L. is disquieted about a rent adoption
I just adopted a little white female IRN that is a picker. I’m not concerned about that. I work with my vet to keep her healthy. But how do I get her to trust me?
Egg food is a versatile supplement especially if your bird is eating nothing but seeds. The problem with the seed-only diet is that your bird is not getting enough vitamins, amino acids (necessary for feather growth), and trace elements.
Barbara D. writes,
For the smaller birds this would be good advice, But for larger species you should only adopt with considerable knowledge
