Does My Pet Bird Need Additional Vitamins?
Judy M. is concerned,
I am wondering if I should give Alex his vitamins if he is eating Harrison’s bird bread?

Gabriella M. expresses these thoughts,
I’ve always had parakeets or budgies growing up.
I’ve always had one male and we always bonded.
I taught them to speak they all knew many many words they were adorable so I’m in the market for another budgie or parakeet but could you tell me the difference?
Carla D. writes,
My zebra finch has injured his foot on a perch and has a scab on the ball of his foot.
I have been treating it with Neosporin. Is there anything else that I should do?
Jean R. is concerned,
I have a middle-aged white-capped Pionus parrot.
I live in North Carolina in an apartment that uses electric heat.
I chose this apartment for my parrot because I ran into issues with gas leaks at other places and was concerned about my bird.
But in making the switch I lost the option to use gas logs in a winter loss of power in cold weather (which we had last winter).
I do not even get hot water.
Older rescued parakeet drops from perches many times a day and then climbs back up.
Avian Vet could not find a reason except that her feet are not very strong and her breastbone is small.
What else can we do for her?
I have my partner’s Double Yellow Head Amazon (Hen) he had her 35 years, (he figured she was about 5 yrs old when he got her), I was with him the last 25 years.
He passed away on 1-14-20 Congestive Heart Failure.
I had never handled her I was afraid of being bitten, but I started just after he died I figured it was not would she bite me but when & how hard. In the last year, she has only bitten me maybe 7 or 8 times and only drew blood 3 times.
Sue is concerned,
I’m seeing small, dark brown bugs which don’t bite in the low-level carpeting near his big cage, where his daily food is on a shelf bagged and sealed, or in plastic containers. Supplies are refrigerated.
I tried spraying with white vinegar.
Can you advise me on a debugger? I tried to download photos but failed.

Karen C. asks,
I know you’re supposed to house your pet in the largest cage you can afford.
At least that’s what I’ve read in past issues of Bird Talk.
Anyway, I’ve done my share of parakeet rescues and as of now, I’m down to 2 birds.
They’re housed in an older Prevue cage #F099 which I purchased when a pet shop by us was going out of business and was selling out their stock.
