Accolades To All Birdie Moms

Spoiler alert: Your mother’s day gift is at the bottom.

Having 11 birds, 10 budgies and an African ringneck, we get it.

Living upstairs of our new facility, Keto (the ringneck) sleeps on the second floor with us but spends the day supervising mom in his “office cage (below).

“Keto’s a biter”.

If he is within 2 inches of skin he will lash out and bite.

How Important Is Artificial Lighting For Pet Birds

Our first answer comes from a question on Quora

Do parrots we rear at home need sunlight?

Firstly, lets set the record straight.

No amount of natural sunlight nor artificial light will help with the production of any vitamin in a bird’s body.

This is because of the dual integumentary systems of feathers and skin.

Windy City Parrot Now Shipping From Lowell, IN

We can’t thank you enough for your patience as we had to shut down shipping last week while we began to organize our new workspace.

There are a host of reasons that we made this move aside from saving money on rent, utilities and taxes.

Interesting to note is that when you operate an Internet retail company, you can run it from anywhere on the planet, as long as you have a high-speed internet connection.

Why is My Severe Macaw is Losing All Its Feathers?

My severe macaw is losing all its feathers.

The vet says I should switch her to 80% pellet food.

However, I am not convinced. I don’t think they eat pellets in the wild.

I am trying adding HARI Prime vitamin, mineral, and amino acid supplement w/probiotics to her diet.

Do you think this is an acceptable alternative?

Will My Quaker Parrot Warm Up To My Cockatiel And Budgie

Katie L. Asks

Is there ever a chance my Quaker Parrot Blu will warm up to my other birds?

He just turned 1, I’ve had him since he was a baby.

We got Winnie the Cockatiel as a baby about 6 months after Blu and just a few weeks ago Chip the parakeet joined our flock.

Blu isn’t as aggressive w/Winnie at this point, but he used to stalk her.

He loved pulling a feather or biting her toes and as a result, Winnie is scared of Blu and little baby Chip.

How She Cared For Her African Greys Fractured Leg Bone

Hi Mitch and Catherine,

Thanks again for an informative ‘Sunday Birdie Brunch’!

I would appreciate some guidance…

Due to my carelessness and haste a month ago, I scooped Hannah up as she was running down the hallway and dropped her by accident.

I saw the look on her face and her holding her leg and knew immediately she was injured.

How We Were Evacuated In A Raft With Our Eclectus Parrot

Jerri M. asks

We live in NC and as you are probably aware, Hurricane Matthew has created some problems.

We were evacuated in a raft, with our Eclectus Parrot.

Since we have returned home, she is acting stressed and exhibiting behaviors that I have not witnessed before this.
