How Can I Stop My Parrot From Plucking Its Feathers?

From a Facebook fan last night

I’ve got a Catalina macaw that has a problem of plucking, I took her to the vet, she has a clean bill of health, now if anyone can help with the feather plucking problem, I would appreciate it, Thanks

From a customer on the West Coast during a phone call this week

“My 14-year-old lovebird began to pluck for no reason at all.

We have him on the best foods we can provide like Harrison’s pellets but we had to put a collar on her to stop the feather loss.

What Are The Right Human And Commercial Foods For My Pet Bird

Editor’s note: We don’t know what bird food your bird will like any more than what you like on Netflix.

“Transparent”, “Scandal” or “The Walking Dead,” shows are both loved and reviled.

My Budgies Beak Broke Off – Can I Fix It?

Stevie Van Zandt requested your answer

I have a rescue budgie, the top of his beak was almost totally gone, just barely hanging. We have NO vet in my area and nobody specializes in birds. I removed what was hanging and she seems ok, I made a “mush” for her to eat. Will the beak grow back?

Setting The Record Straight About Feeding Eclectus Parrots

Susan G writes:

There is so much conflicting information on pellets and Eclectus parrots (the potential to overload on vitamins).

I have been giving them about 10 [pellets] a couple times a week.

I wanted to know your thoughts on this.

I do try to feed them a very balanced diet but I know we can’t cover everything.

Thanks for your help.

How Winter Places Stress On Pet Birds

Birds have a highly developed sense of light. In humans, we perceive light through our eyes.
Our feathered friends have an additional way of interpreting light conditions, a special gland that surrounds the eye. Read more on this
As days get shorter and the temperature falls, we want you to be aware of some issues the changing weather may have on your birds.
In the wild, animals rely on the cycling of the sun, and the seasons to adjust their biological clocks and metabolism. It is the sun, and changes in the quality of light and length of the day which set the stage for breeding, migration, molting, and daily behavior patterns.

How To Easily Get Powdered Supplements Into Your Bird – Video

There are no wrong or right procedures or specific foods for any given bird.

It’s always good to start with a manufacturers well rounded parrot food blend like Hagan Tropimix which has seeds, nuts, fruit and Hagen Tropimix pellets.

Some birds are extraordinarily picky eaters and will only eat seed.

A straight bird food pellet diet is not necessarily the answer.

We tell people “there are no pellet trees in the rain forest”
