Feather Plucking Rosella

Hello!

My name is Catherine and I have a western rosella for a year now. My husband is her favorite one as she sits on his shoulder and listens to what he says.

The problem is that for a few months now, she started pulling off her feathers and we can’t stop her. We try not to leave her alone for many hours, put her out of the cage to fly and find her new toys to play but she keeps that habit on.

What else can I do? Should I bring her a male one? Please help me if you can…

We have a harness for our Alexandrine parrot, which works really well for him. We also have two lovebirds in our family, and we’re trying to find a harness for the two little guys now, as our Alex likes outings so much, and we’d like to be able to extend that same privilege to our little ones, too.

My Bird Really Doesnt Eat His Fruits

“My bird really doesn’t eat his fruits and veggies like birds of his type do. Do you have any insight into what to do or what would be a good substitute so that he can be getting his daily vitamins?”

Is your bird on a total seed diet? If so, it is not going to provide all he needs to live a long life. They do need to consume more than seeds. Even if he does not eat it every day, you must give him a small dish with something that is not seeds daily. EVERY DAY.

They used to be only in 3 sizes but they devided up the large size into two sizes.

Hawk Head Parrot – Handicapped – Help

I just adopted a 4 mth old Hawk Head Parrot. He is deformed. Puts most of his weight in his right side. I wanted to get him a sleeping tent or ledge.

Something he can rest comfortably in. He will be having X-rays and testing in a few weeks to see the extent.

Like any good retailer, we constantly check our competition online. Sometimes we see prices on some of the same bird food pellets or bird seed that is priced just too low to make sense and like anything else in life, you-get-what-you-pay-for.

Upon investigation, we often find that the bird food or pellets they are selling have been rebagged in zip locks, canisters and boxes. We’ve even seen the term “heat sealed.” (Remember Seal-A-Meals?)

Review: The item was of good quality and I received it quickly but my Orange-winged Amazon, so far, will have nothing to do with it.

I’m moving it closer to her cage each day and holding the Cozy Corner so she can see it’s not the enemy but if I put it in her cage she has a fit.
