How to Convert a Bird to Hagen Pellets

Complete, or formulated diets are “balanced” as the bird must eat the nutrients in the ratio intended. MIXED diets (seeds, fruits, and table foods) are much harder to balance and require the time-consuming use of a supplement. SEED diets are invariably low in calcium and vitamin A and high in fat and phosphorous.

A simple and SAFE way to convert most pets to a better diet is to start by cleaning the cage each evening, and leaving ONLY Tropican in the feeders (I may sprinkle some on the floor or place a small dish on the floor as well).

How Much Should My Birds Weigh?

  Average Bird Weights

Healthy adult cockatiels usually weigh 78 to 125 grams. Birds should always be weighed in grams, which is a metric measurement. (There are approximately 28 grams in an ounce.) It is important that a bird is weighed on an accurate gram scale. Electronic scales are available for purchase from bird-supply companies and office-supply retailers. These can be modified by installing a lightweight perch to facilitate weighing birds.

Should I Change My Conure’s Nekton S Bird Vitamins?

I’d like to order Nekton supplement for birds. I currently use Nekton-S (green band) for my conure mixed in daily water supply.

Do you recommend the Nekton-S or the Hagen Prime for Conures. Should I continue with Nekton or switch?

Let me know if you have Nekton – or if you have something better. I mix the dry powder in the birds water. Thanks. Thanks for all the help on the phone, too.

Hormones Are Important in Dictating Your Birds Behavior

One of the harshest realities to deal with is the aggression that you might not have seen before which is normal and probably won’t last a long time. Unlike other pets like cats and dogs, you really can’t discipline your bird for this. Hormonal behavior will happen when a parrot hits sexual maturity causing hormones to modify his or her behavior.
