Cream Cheese, Rescue Budgie Number 10 In Our Flock
This has become a helluva slippery slope.
0 to 10 budgies in 25 months.
They are in this big beautiful Prevue F050 aviary.
They’ve created their own micro-culture.

Is this a proper budgie cage set up?
First of all you do not indicate the bird’s lifestyle.
Will this be a solitary bird who spends a lot of time in the cage or will the bird be out of the cage a lot and basically used for sleeping?

Hello, I am hoping you can help me.
About three weeks ago I got a baby parakeet, I was told the bird was 10 weeks old.
The bird had black on its beak, and the cere was still purple in color.
One of the challenges of keeping nine budgies in a single aviary is identification.
So here are some notes that we made to help even ourselves keep everyone straight.
I’ve often said the universe is too complex to be arbitrary.
We brought home a Prevue F040 birdcage for our six budgies, but once built we clearly felt it was too small.
It sat in our living room for about three weeks.
During that time we received a phone call and long story short we ended up rescuing a 17-year-old male African ringneck.
Once again, although well-intentioned, people are breaking down your choices into the macro of species (Quora question).
One answer started with
I clearly have been remiss by not keeping everybody up with the lives of our six budgies.
Ever since we adopted the last two, Biscuit and Gravy, the dynamics have certainly once again changed in the cage environment.
Putting things in perspective there are only two males, Jam and Eggs, the other four are females.
What size cage is the minimum size for one small budgie?
The experts have all sorts of rules on proper cage sizing.
“It needs to be this size and shape in height”.
“In needs to have levels on this and that”.
“The bar spacing MUST be…….”
So here’s my deal with the experts
Is it wrong to trim a baby budgies toe nails?
If it is wrong, then why is it wrong to trim a baby budgies toe nails?
This is my answer to a question on Quora.
Editor’s note: Another answer about trimming a budgie’s toenails had advised against clipping their toes to avoid bloodshed.
By using a Rotary trimmer you can avoid cutting any birds nails to the quick by having total control in conjunction along with knowing proper restraint for small birds.
