My Timneh (grey) only wants to bite me when I am cleaning his cage which is mostly in the evening.
He’s fine when I am feeding him and he does come out.
He’s only out a couple of hours mostly in the early evening.

I purchased a 3-month-old Quaker parrot, suspecting it was a female. I was told she was hand-fed. I’ve had her for over a month now. But she is petrified of hands.
I’ve been placing my hand (palm down) to hold a treat near her cage door, she usually takes it.
Why is it so important to understand the differences between bird species?
I’m not ashamed to say we get more deliveries from Amazon (like most Americans) then we care to talk about.
This week a new Amazon driver “Patrick” handed off an envelope then said “I’ve never been here before – this place looks cool.”
I have 2 questions.
I have a cockatiel that a friend gave to me.
When I first got it, there were clearly dark bars on the underside of the tail feathers.
One of the answers from the big Q.
It has been done but I personally advise against it. It is unnatural for them to hold it, and if they become too well potty trained they may harm themselves if they think they can’t go at any given time.
My answer
Parrots poop about every 15 minutes on average.
In 2 weeks, he lets me pet his head and loves being on my arm. He is flighted and only caged at night. His diet was previously crap...I am…
Every time I try to get my new Congo grey to sit on my hand, he bites me.
How long do I have to keep getting bitten?
Biting is never acceptable.
Not from a bird, dog, cat nor any other pet (said the lion trainer).
Getting bitten solves nothing.
One of the questions we ask here is why is your bird aggressive?
In many cases this is a hormonal issue that can partially be controlled with light.

Are ionized air purifiers safe for my lovebird?
Absolutely not! (MitchR)
Although marketed as being able to “scrub the air”, these “ionizers” do not remove airborne dust to a significant degree but do generate ozone, an unstable oxygen molecule (O3). Read more: (more…)
