First of all, people who state absolute truths about bird care as in yes and no have much to learn.
To answer this question with an emphatic “no”, begs even more queries:
If you just want to let the bird out by opening the cage door have you examined your home?

I have a young Galah parrot (aka rose-breasted cockatoo) who is missing her toes on one foot.
She was three weeks old when she developed constricted toe and had the amputation, so she really has no idea that she’s handicapped.
Editor’s note: Animals never do.
She’s a little over two years old now. (1st April 2016)

Dear Mitch I wanted to ask for your advice.
My male cockatiel is pulling his feathers out from under his wings.
I brought him to one avian vet who did blood work.
That was a dead end.
The 2nd vet sent droppings to a lab and that was negative.

Another question recently asked on Quora was “what do parrots do for fun”?
We know parrots prefer “working” for food versus simply eating from overflowing bowls of bird food blends.
We know correlation does not necessarily imply causation but can we correctly infer that work & play are one and the same for a parrot?

How can I tame two adult budgies at once?
I would rather not buy two bird cages.
mitchr explains:
It’s been recently discovered that the first parrot breeders in North America existed almost 1000 years ago.
Birds on the other hand existed freely around the planet for about 99 million years prior to humans containment of them.

I see you ride also, kinda thought so by your picture.
Guess that’s profiling, lol.
Thanks for your help.
Are there any things you can steer me to that will help with hollering?
I know birds holler, but a rehomed 10 y/o caique we adopted in June seems to have a separation anxiety issue.
He hollers for my husband, his chosen human if he knows he’s anywhere nearby, and for me if I leave the living room and he knows I’m nearby.

This has become a helluva slippery slope.
0 to 10 budgies in 25 months.
They are in this big beautiful Prevue F050 aviary.
They’ve created their own micro-culture.

Is this a proper budgie cage set up?
First of all you do not indicate the bird’s lifestyle.
Will this be a solitary bird who spends a lot of time in the cage or will the bird be out of the cage a lot and basically used for sleeping?
