Parakeets often are fed nothing but parakeet mix which is mainly millet and possibly a few fortified oats.
Then they are given millet spray as a treat.
Okay, well, budgies don’t live as long, or well as they could be on just millet alone.

When we started this latest bag, she started just grinding the large pellets (not sure if she is eating them) and scattering them about the cage.

My male Umbrella cockatoo 17 yrs has cloacal prolapse for many years. He eats a variety of fruits, vegetables, pasta, oatmeal, egg whites besides a variety of pellets.
We make sure food is room temp and not warm.
He gets petted on his head and neck.
Very active and is very used to us cleaning around that area.
