The Challenge Of Rescuing An Older Injured Citron Cockatoo

Thank you Constance R.

So often its important to hear from independent third parties who provide valuable feedback on our pet bird content.

Having been in the process of rescuing budgies, (current budgie census is at six) and spending a lot of time with Peaches, our Senegal parrot weighing in at about 115 g, our recent focus has been skewed towards smaller birds.

Constance has a Congo African Grey and an Umbrella Cockatoo and from her recommendations, this is going to be a cockatoo-lishish post.

Meet Your Next Parrot Problem Solver And She Has A Free Gift For You

I consider myself to be somewhat influential in the avian niche.

Professionally I subscribe to a handful of YouTube channels with other avian influencers producing a huge amount of video content for channels with massive numbers of subscribers.

The apparent criteria for being a YouTube avian influencer is to “have birds”

Bird Cage And Food Recommendations for 2 Quaker Cagemates

Looking for an appropriate birdcage to house 2 Quaker parrot cagemates
Hi Rose,

I think this 3159 Select would be a great cage from Prevue.
The 36-inch wide footprint gives the birds ample room for separation if needed.

It provides the best of both worlds having a dome top for interior height and a play area for time outside the cage.
As you can see it has ample seed skirts

Egad, Ants Are in My Birds Cage & How the Heck Can Ants Be Good for a Bird?

Updated 4/2/19

Hi Mitch,
I wrote to you last year with my ant guard idea (below), but I improved it after that and thought I’d share my improvement of the scheme.
The cage legs in plastic sandwich bags inside cups of water eventually didn’t work.
The bags developed holes letting water in and causing the metal to begin to rust.

5 Answers To Questions Affecting A Parrots Domestic And Native Environments

Hi Mitch. Just a comment of concern.

Clearly, I understand the need to know a bird’s sex but I’m also very concerned about this kit that anybody can buy, including many of the idiots out there that own birds.

Editors note: not my words

Do you really want to encourage all owners to pluck their birds feathers and cut their nails too short in order to get blood for testing?

There are experienced owners out there that could do it but there are probably many more out there who could cause an emergency and pain.

I have lived with 17 budgies but I would would still go to a vet for something like that.

I wish you would write a follow up to that article to inspire caution. The article makes me very nervous frankly.

3 Captive Bird Care Myths Debunked

Myth 1: If you want your bird to be in top shape you must serve him or her organic bird food.

We offer USDA certified organic bird food pellets from Harrison’s.

It’s refuted as one of the best bird foods on the market.

We also offer Totally Organics, another fine organic blend.

The biggest misconception about organic is its purity. The majority of people assume organic means fully natural and pesticide-free but this is not close to the truth.
