How I Fixed My Rescued Moluccan Cockatoo From Feather Plucking

When I took in a rescued Moluccan cockatoo he had 3 large sores and no feathers on his chest. 

We provided him with a 4’×4’×6′ aviary cage with bird lighting, an open window to allow filtered afternoon sun for him to sit in, toys in the 1/3 to 1/2 upper part of the cage, and lots of rope and solid perches.

Our two rescued parakeets, who were found outdoors separately and given to a bird rescue, are not hand tame.

They enjoy being out of their flight cage and investigating in the one room I keep closed for them.

Recently they have eaten molding, on the back of an old mirror, and the other day molding around the glass on my antique china closet.

Can I Leave an African Grey Outside the Cage & Go to Sleep?

He’s new to our family. I’m afraid to try to put him back in the cage, he may have unwanted reactions. The place is safe for him and closed, and he’s still in his cage now.

Why are you making the assumption that your new parrot who came from a caged environment would have a problem with living in a caged environment in your home?
