My male parrotlet is 1 year 6 months old and takes big chunks out of my husband.
He’ll be watching tv and the bird will fly over and take a chunk out of him.
There’s no reason for this.
My husband is not doing anything as the bird just flew over.

I read that rosewater used for cooking is good to moisturize and calm feather picking birds.
I started putting a few drops in his water twice a day and he seems calmer.
I have tried everything, including diet, toys, lights, and vet exams. Until rosewater, nothing helped. Is there a contraindication?
By the way, I add a few drops to my evening water and in my eyes.
I sleep better and my eyes are less dry.

Can you suggest a few medium-sized parrot species for a 1st-time owner about to turn 60y?
I am interested in moderation (moderate affection, playfulness, independence, friendliness, and noise) ability to talk would be a plus.
I still work full time, and live alone in my own house.

question: I have recently been given a parakeet with a splayed leg.Â
He eats and flys but he’s not very active and basically just sits in one place for long periods of time, especially if another keet doesn’t land next to him to get him moving.

Mitch: I read on line something you wrote about the possibility of training adult budgies.
I have inherited two budgies – about 1-year-old.
They are in a cage and have never been trained.
They seem very happy with each other.
They are very active and chatty.

First I want to say I love your Birdie Brunch Newsletter because I can scroll through it quickly, pick out the articles I want to read, and just view those.
It’s one of only 2 newsletters I actually look at in my email!
So I have a question about beak and nail trimming.
I recently was very excited to purchase TOPS birdseed.
Â
Well, no matter what I do, will my 40-year-old Yellow-headed Panamanian Parrot eat any of this seed.
A lot of money wasted again.
Too Many Sunflower Seeds in Volkman Ecky

Hi Mitch and Catherine.
I have been feeding my Eclectus Volkman seed for Eclectus for a long time.
Seems in the last year the bags are half full of sunflower seeds.
I reached out to the company and they said they would look into it but needed numbers off the bag.
Didn’t save the bag but told them I could order a small one to get numbers.
